Lebanese TV anchor, Malak Ayoub, presented the conference for the First Iraqi Bank (FIB), Iraq’s initial digital bank, in collaboration with Visa International. The event took place in Baghdad, with the aim to launch the “Visa Direct” service, which allows for fund transfers within minutes through mobile phones via a specialized application. The conference was attended by businessmen, politicians, economists, ambassadors, and dignitaries. Malak Ayoub’s opening statement focused on Iraq’s rich history and its people, as well as its crucial economic role in the region. The ceremony was sponsored by Prime Minister Mohammed Shayya’ Sabbar Al-Sudani, represented by the Prime Minister’s Adviser for Financial Affairs, Mudher Mohammad Saleh. The event also saw the attendance of Ms. Ala Talabani, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank, Dr. Ali Mohsen Al-Alaq, the governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, and Leila Serhan, Visas’s Group Country Manager and Senior Vice President across North Africa, Levant and Pakistan. The speeches emphasized the importance of the financial and investment banking sector, the digital transformation it’s experiencing, and FIB’s outstanding service for inclusive development. The conference concluded with Malak thanking the attendees for their presence and presenting The Iraqi Peace Orchestra led by maestro Mustafa Zair.
